How are we all? I hope you've all had lovely weather like we have today. We took a trip to the coast and had a very tasty roast dinner and an ice cream on the beach...how very British!
I'm here today with a card for a challenge medley I absolutely could not miss! I have been making cards for both the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge and the Fusion challenge over the past few weeks, none of which have been making it onto this blog...time is way too sparse! However, this evening DOH has gone visiting a friend of our and so I have ten minutes to myself and so here I am :)
I had the general idea for this card before I began, however, it did evolve somewhat and became a lot more 'flowery' than I expected. It looked a bit plain with an un-embossed white mat, so I embossed it and the embossing folder I chose was a little more fussy than I bargained for (you'd have thought I would've noticed before I used it, but I was FaceTiming my brother at the time and maybe not concentrating as much as I could have been :)) Luckily, it worked quite well!
I don't actually know anyone who is getting engaged, but the sentiment was the best suited! I'll just keep this card on standby until someone decides to get married :)

Hello boys and girls!
How are we all? I for one am super tired - but in a good way! This bank holiday weekend the weather has been unusually kind to us and we have indeed made the most of it :) I have spent the weekend mostly outdoors scooting all over the county visiting places I've not been to before and of course, today's May Day Bike Rally in Hastings - it was fabulous! Last year there were around 42,000 bikes and 79,000 people in attendance - I wouldn't be surprised if this year was on a par, it was awesome!
I hope you've all had wonderful weekends too...going to work tomorrow is going to be tough! :)
Now for the card that I'm here for...it's a card I've made using the brilliant inspiration over at the Fusion Card Challenge blog. I haven't played along with this one for ages, but I just had to find time to enter this time as it is too awesome to miss!
Here's my card...
Surprise, surprise guys...we have black, white and rainbows!! I used both the inspiration image and the sketch (if not a slightly adapted version of the sketch) :)
I heat embossed each chevron 'strip' individually which took rather a lot longer than I was expecting, however it was worth it because I am pleased with the outcome :) Add a few black chevrons cut from card and an embossed sentiment and Bob's your Uncle!
Here is the inspiration...there's still a small window of opportunity to enter this challenge if you haven't already!!

Today is SUPER busy day so I'm going to have to be quick! There are about a million things I should be doing instead of writing a blog post...he he! I'm off to the airport in two hours for a little trip to Edinburgh for my DOH's brother's wedding!

Now, as the title suggests I managed to hit four challenges with one card! Hopefully it counts for all of them ;)
The challenges are Catered Crop - Orange is the new black (which I did start watching on Netflix last night and looks pretty good!); CAS(E) this sketch #50 (can you believe it's been going nearly a year already?!); the Fusion card challenge which I haven't played along with for a while and last, but not least, The Paper Players - a CAS masculine birthday card.

Yes, I'm still on a sewing roll! I know that my Father-In-Law won't realise just how long it took to draw the circles, measure the distance between the holes (I am too OCD to eyeball that sort of thing!) pierce the holes and then sew them...but that's ok, I know you guys do ;)
The layout is from the CTS sketch, the colours are from the inspiration photo over at Fusion (and kinda the layout I guess?) and the Catered Crop orange-ness. Hopefully this counts as a CAS masculine birthday card too because like I say, it's going to my Father-In-Law!! ;)

Today I have a card for the Fusion card challenge. I consider it to be a 'fusion' card as I used the chalkboard element from the inspiration image and loosely used the sketch...that's where the layout started anyway...I hope you can see that!?

Can you see the sketch?! I kept the banner and exchanged the flower for a circular snowflake-y element. I have had this stamp for years and I think this is actually the first time I've used it on a card...shame on me! I 'adjusted' the panels too...they're still there, just in a different proportion to the sketch ;) I kinda ad-libbed with this card, I had a vague idea in my head when I started and then just made the rest up as I went along...I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out too which is always a bonus!
The sentiment is embossed in WOW's White Twinkle embossing glitter which is GORGEOUS! However, due to my lighting set up still being the same as it was the last time I tried to take photo's of sparkles you can't see that! I tried taking a close up photo but it really didn't show anything so it wasn't really worth posting...I tried though! Thinking about it, I should've embossed the tree using the same powder, it may have added a touch of elegance...maybe I'll make another one that's more sparkly! ;)

Last weekend I took some time out in order to sit at my desk...I didn't realise quite how much I'd missed it and just how therapeutic it is! I managed to join in with some challenges that have been neglected by myself of late...woohoo!
Today is the turn of the Fusion challenge! The sketch and the inspiration were so cool that I went with both, and here they are...
I decided to use the colours from the inspiration image and the white-on-blue background and went with a literal take on the sketch...this is how it turned out...
Some of you may remember that I was making a bundle of birthday cards to send to my Mum for her to have on standby to give to her friends. Well, I made and sent them to her, and bless her, she loved them :) (that's the best thing about Mother's, they're seldom disappointed :)) When I spoke to her on the phone the other day she mentioned that a male friend of hers birthday was coming up soon. I couldn't remember whether any of the cards I sent her would be suitable for him, so I told her I'd make one specially. He has a good sense of humour (which is lucky!) and is going to be turning 64, so Mother and I decided that this sentiment would be ideal!! He he! Mean, I know :)
I never really got into the bunting/banner trend when it was, well, trendy...but here I found myself making a little bunting for this card...talk about being a little behind! :) I'm actually quite pleased with how it turned out and hopefully Keith will enjoy his card too :)
I am hoping to join in with all the other challenges I love this week too...I think I'll have to train my other half to cook dinner and wash up so that I have more time to craft! Wish me luck!! ;)

I am popping in with a little card for the Fusion challenge today...talk about last minute hey?!! That's just how I roll ;)
Once again, I decided to go with just the sketch. Don't get me wrong, the colours and the flowers from the inspiration image were wonderful, but there was no way I was going to be able to make them look anything other than an experiment in achieving the ugliest recycling paper! I am aware of my limitations and sometimes it does just as well to stick within them as it to push them :)

This card is another one that is destined for my Mother's address. Her friend is moving at the end of the month and she asked if I could make a card for her. Now, I am aware that there is no mention of 'new home' or even an image of a house anywhere on this card, but I think it is a cause for felicitations. Her friend has been trying to sell her house for over a year and it has finally happened! Too tenuous? I don't know - I'll send it to Mother and see what she says...I still have plenty of time to make another one when she says that this one won't do! ;)
I had a bit of fun with this card...you see those outer rings? They have been heat embossed with glow in the dark embossing powder! Te he! The inner circles have been embossed with clear gloss embossing powder. I thought they looked like little planets and that it might be fun if a card on someone's mantel piece was to glow in the evening! (I think this cold has gone to my head a little more than I first thought!) I did try to take a photograph of it 'glowing' to no avail...I was not impressed. Danielle Daws made this card and she seemed to be able to capture the 'glowing'...my photo's just came out black :( I'd love to blame the camera, but only a bad craftsman blames his tools. You can see in Danielle's photo what it look like in the dark though :)
ETA: Lyndal kindly pointed out that this card would also qualify for the challenge currently on over at Catered Crop so I'm popping it in there as well! Thanks girl! :)

...the Fusion Challenge
Despite the gorgeous inspiration image and the very pretty sketch, I struggled a bit with the Fusion experiment this week. The problem was that I had an idea in my head and for the life of me I could not make it translate onto a card! Partly because I didn't have the right tools, but mostly because I just couldn't work it!
So...I decided to go with just the inspiration image - it's stunning!

...what do ya think? I'm also entering this into the challenge over at Addicted To CAS this week as the code word is FLOWER.

I missed out on the Fusion challenge last time, and I'm a bit close to the mark on this one too!! This is a cool new challenge - no need to find an inspiration challenge and a sketch challenge to combine - this is a two-fer! I have gone for the 'fusion' option of combining the sketch and the inspiration photo;
I have loosely based this card on the sketch - I'm not sure if that's allowed, but I've always been a bit rebellious! :)
I decided not to line the chevrons up like I did in my CAS(E) this sketch card, but to offset them to get little diamonds of negative space in between. They're popped up on foam tape too to add a bit of dimension and interest. I moved the circle in the sketch down to the bottom as an anchor for my little sentiment banner and there you have it - a fusion card!
