Dynamic Duos...dessert option?

Hello!

I am here with my entry for the Dynamic Duos challenge this week which is a gorgeous combination of black and grey, with a dessert option of a masculine card.

When I saw these colours together I thought 'there are gonna be some real stunners this week'!!  I was right :)  I also thought, however, that I'd come up with something right off the bat...er...wrong!  It's ok though, because I'm quite pleased with the card I did create  :)

As per usual, I don't think you can get the full effect of this card from the photograph.  It looks quite plain here, but in real life it's quite tactile.  The background script is embossed in the awesome Clear Matt Dull powder from WOW! Embossing Powder - I love this stuff!  It gives a completely different effect than normal clear embossing - obviously!  It feels kinda soft and I think it's quite elegant :)  I received my new embossing powders this morning (my prize for winning WOW!'s challenge in February with this card) and I cannot wait to give them a go!

I don't know if this counts as a masculine card because of the pearls and ribbons, but I'm pretty sure there are some guys out there who wouldn't mind that!  ;)

I am also entering this into the CAS-ual Fridays Birthday Bash challenge.  I hope Michele is enjoying her birthday and all the birthday love!  :)

Thanks for stopping by, you guys are great!  ;)

Dynamic musings...

Hey guys!

How are you all diddling?  I have been without internet access since before the weekend and I am glad to be back online!  It's amazing how much you can miss it isn't it?!  I don't know what we ever did before it was widely available to all, I really don't!  (I did manage to sneak in a few minutes to vote over at Muse though, he he!)

We spent a lovely weekend with the in-laws, it was so nice to see them ;)  I am lucky, I have possibly the best in-laws ever!  I hope you all enjoyed your weekends too :)

Ok, back to the job in hand - cards!  This card is a mix of the colours from Dynamic Duos this week and the fabulous inspiration card over at Muse.  Both of which are just sublime.  How I was inspired by Muse is possibly slightly more tenuous this week than last, but it's there, I promise!

I love Marion's work - it is always amazing!  As this card is along the same sort of lines as Therese's card, I didn't just want to end up making something which was similar to my last entry so I decided to go with the technique Marion used.  I used to do it a lot, but it's been a while since I've used white embossing and then Distress Inks to create a background...so that's what I did!

Although blue and orange are complimentary colours (and, now I think about it, my Dad's favourites) I never think to use them together!?  I think they look really bright and summery!  I decided to stick with the flower theme of Marion's card.  I'm pleased with how this turned out ;)

Well, this card is pretty self explanatory so you don't need me waffling on any more!

Thanks for dropping by ;)

Dynamic Verve...! :)

Hi guys!

How are we all?  Good I hope :)

My mojo is gradually coming back to me, not as quickly as I'd like because I'm impatient, but I'm pleased nonetheless!

I decided to combine the sketch for week 2 over at Viva La Verve with the colour combo for Dynamic Duos this week.  This is a colour combination that I have never used before and I don't think would ever have entered my mind to use - it's wicked though so I'm glad I had a go!

I wasn't sure about this card when I finished it...which is usual lately!  However, I was speaking to my brother on FaceTime yesterday afternoon after I'd made it and he said he really liked it so that's good enough for me!  If there's anything that I can trust my brother to do, it's tell the truth - be it good or bad!  So, if he says he likes it, he means it :)  Thanks Jack!  :)

Anyways, here's the sketch and the colour combo;

...and here is my card;

For a change, I took a slight liberty with the sketch, I hope Laurie won't mind too much ;)  This card is starting to grow on me, I have to admit :)

I'm hoping to be around a bit more now, I've got a lot of challenges to catch up on since my absence - I'm out of the swing a bit!  Thank you to everyone for sticking with me, and the encouraging comments you have all left have been exactly that!  Love you all!  :)

Thanks for stopping by ;)

A rare event...

Hi there!

This is a very rare event indeed - I have managed to make one card for THREE challenges!  I generally tend to make one for each challenge, but I am running out of available time!!

I'm back with another entry for the Dynamic Duos!  I'm not sure that this one will count as I used a little bit of grey, but I'm hoping that that passes as a neutral ;)

I am also playing along with another new-to-me challenge at The Paper Players.  This week is a sketch by the wonderful Jaydee.  I love this sketch as you can use it as a super CAS sketch (which obviously I have!) or you could really dress it up and make it shabby chic.  I really wish I could get a grip on shabby chic and vintage, but alas, try as I might it still turns out a little too contrived :(

This also (I hope!) qualifies for the cue word over at CAS-ology this week, which is Circle;

The colours for Dynamic Duos are;

And the Paper Players sketch is;

...my card based on these is;

... and a little close up;

I chose the embossing folders for each of these circles on the fact that they are also all circular patterns :)

I am planning on making another card for the CAS-ology challenge this week as my mind is racing with so many ideas!!!  I have until Sunday, I can see me blogging them all in the same day so I apologise in advance if I end up having a blogging binge :)

Thanks, as always, for stopping by ;)  All your comments mean so much and are really encouraging me of late ;)

Retro Sketches meets Dynamic Duos...

Hey peeps!

I hope you're all well :)

I have a card today that is for two challenges that I've been meaning to get around to for a LONG time, but haven't had a chance to - until now!

These are the Dynamic Duos and Retro Sketches challenges.  The criteria for Dynamic Duos this week is Monochromatic - Teal Blues and this weeks' Retro Sketch is a 'pick your own' from all the historic sketches.  This was particularly handy as I haven't played along with any of them so I got to go back and choose my favourite one!

I chose sketch #30;

I love the simplicity of this sketch - I seem to have gone minimalist CAS lately, super simple.  It says a lot about me really doesn't it!  :)

I quite enjoyed being restricted to these two colours - it's a colour combination that I don't use enough!

I feel good now that I have managed to have a go at these two challenges, here's hoping I can have another go next week :)

Thanks for stopping by ;)
