Retro, baby...!

Hellooo!

Today I am here with a happy card - the best kind huh?!!  :)  On Monday, my friends' daughter had a little baby boy!  They've called him Tommy and he is just gorgeous!  I haven't seen him in the flesh yet :(  but the photo my friend showed me was just adorable :)

So, I had cause to make a baby card.  I used this Retro Sketches sketch;

At first, I thought the sketch looked a little busy for me, but after looking through the DT examples I was convinced to have a go :)  Here is what I came up with;

I used patterned paper - in fact I used TWO patterned papers!!  I do love papers, however I never feel like I can make them look right; therefore I have a large stash of them and very seldom do they actually get their debut!  Well, not today!

I hope Kim (the new Mum) and her family are enjoying their beautiful new addition - I can't wait to meet him!  This card will be on its way to them this afternoon :)

Thanks for stopping by ;)

Dynamic Verve...! :)

Hi guys!

How are we all?  Good I hope :)

My mojo is gradually coming back to me, not as quickly as I'd like because I'm impatient, but I'm pleased nonetheless!

I decided to combine the sketch for week 2 over at Viva La Verve with the colour combo for Dynamic Duos this week.  This is a colour combination that I have never used before and I don't think would ever have entered my mind to use - it's wicked though so I'm glad I had a go!

I wasn't sure about this card when I finished it...which is usual lately!  However, I was speaking to my brother on FaceTime yesterday afternoon after I'd made it and he said he really liked it so that's good enough for me!  If there's anything that I can trust my brother to do, it's tell the truth - be it good or bad!  So, if he says he likes it, he means it :)  Thanks Jack!  :)

Anyways, here's the sketch and the colour combo;

...and here is my card;

For a change, I took a slight liberty with the sketch, I hope Laurie won't mind too much ;)  This card is starting to grow on me, I have to admit :)

I'm hoping to be around a bit more now, I've got a lot of challenges to catch up on since my absence - I'm out of the swing a bit!  Thank you to everyone for sticking with me, and the encouraging comments you have all left have been exactly that!  Love you all!  :)

Thanks for stopping by ;)

Birthday card...

Hi!

As promised, I am back with another card  :)

This one was inspired in part by Erum and based on the sketch and inspiration image over at Viva La Verve.  Yeh, I know, I'm super late with this sketch and I can't enter it, but I really liked the layout and when my mojo made its' come back I knew I needed to make it!

Here's the sketch and inspiration image;

...and here's my card;

This card is for my Dad - I hope he likes it.  I was quite pleased with how it turned out, just how I had pictured!  That just about never happens!

Thanks for stopping by ;)

You inspired me...!!

Hey ya!

How is everyone?  Good I hope :)  I hope you all enjoyed the long Easter weekend.

I have some good news...I think my mojo is slowly returning!!  Yay!  It is yet to be confirmed, but I'm hoping that soon the results will speak for themselves...we'll see!

To jump start my mojo, I tried using a plethora of challenges but to no avail.  Then I decided to go on the prowl and search through my favourite blogs.  E.T. - you inspired me!!  Thank you so much!!

I absolutely love everything that Erum creates - she's fabulous!  I don't know how she does it, but she can turn out the best CAS card you've ever seen one minute and the next is an awesome album project or something fabulously shabby chic - how is that possible?!  I don't know, but I love it!  You must check out her blog if you haven't already, you're gonna love it :)

I was reading this post and I was inspired too :)  Here is how it turned out, I hope that it does the original CASE'd idea some sort of justice;

I am going to enter this over at Simon Says Stamp as the theme is 'Anything Goes'.

I have another card for you all tomorrow.  Yep, I was on a roll...long may it continue ;)

Thanks for stopping by ;)

Addicted to CAS(E)...Happy Anniversary...

Hello there peeps!

The dreaded 'Nojo' has continued to plague my creativity and that is why I haven't been here for a while.  Despite the fabulous inspiration that you and all the challenge blogs provide, my mojo is, it would seem, as stubborn as I am and refused to make an appearance - doh!!

In an attempt to force my mojo out of its apparent retirement, I decided to sit at my desk and remain there until something came of my 'patience'!  Also, it is my in-laws anniversary on the 1st April so I needed to make a card, mojo or no mojo.

I used this weeks' CAS(E) this sketch sketch and took inspiration from the code word over at Addicted To CAS - 'Spring'.

Ordinarily, when I use a sketch for inspiration, I CAS-ify it - this time the opposite happened and the layers just kept coming!  Go figure!?  I think this is proof that my mojo is off kilter!  The colours were inspired by the word 'Spring'.  Given all the terrible weather (it was snowing here this morning would you believe?!!!) I wanted to make a bright card - I thought it's be nicer for the in-laws to open :)

I feel as though my mojo could be on it's way back - I do hope so as I miss making cards and blogging!

I hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow for Easter - I hope you all eat and drink too much and spend some quality time with your families :)

Thanks for stopping by ;)

A blast from the past...!

Hey!

I scoured the challenges for this week to find something to kick start my missing mojo and I came across The Play Date Cafe challenge which is a challenge I haven't played along with for AGES!  I have, however, missed the deadline which is a bit annoying - but the inspiration was still helpful!! The colours, alongside the awesome sketch over at Retro Sketches, sparked something within me and I managed to come up with a card.  I'm not honestly sure how I feel about it yet, but I think it's growing on me :)

I was a little stumped by the theme at Addicted To CAS - Wings.  I'm not an 'image' person really so I was trying to work out how I could incorporate wings into a card without actually needing an image.  I was looking through my embossing folders and came across the perfect solution - I have an embossing folder named 'Wings'!  If that wasn't meant to be then I don't know what would be!  :)

Here are all my inspirations;

...and here is the card that I have made for my best friends' birthday...

Luckily, my friend is not a 'girly girl' - in fact I don't think I have many girl friends who are especially girly?!  I'm not sure what that says about me really?!  Anyway, slight tangent there, sorry!  My friend is a big fan of blue and green (she's always wearing blue and her wedding colours were lime green, black and white which was just stunning!  I'll get the photo's of the stationery that I made on here one of these days) so I think there's quite a large possibility that she will like her card, despite the splash of pink - she will get over it I'm sure :)  Can you see my sneaky wings embossed on the tracing paper there?!  I'm quite pleased with how that turned out and it adds a little bit of girly-ness to an otherwise plain card :)

Despite missing the Play Date Cafe deadline, the colours over at The Paper Players this week are strikingly similar, there is just an extra colour - brown.  I am waiting for my new WOW! embossing powders to arrive (I was lucky enough to win last months' challenge and got to choose 12 powders!) as one of them was Bark and will be perfect!  I hope they arrive before that deadline!  :)

I am going to get back to my desk now and see if I can find my mojo - it WILL return!!

Thanks for stopping by ;)

'Nojo' crisis...!!

Hey there!

How is everyone? It's been a while since my last post because the 'nojo' situation has got a little bit out of hand - my mojo has disappeared completely and I am not impressed!!  It's my other half's birthday on Monday and I am really struggling to come up with something worthy; I'm still working on it :(

In the meantime, I've managed to make a card for the sketch at Viva La Verve - it was definitely a help with my lack of mojo!

Here's Jen's cool sketch;

...and here is the card I made for my cousin's birthday using the sketch;

I decided to use the flame colours (a previous CASology theme) with black and white because I think it's quite striking and bright :)

I am also entering this card into the WOW! Challenge - Anything Goes.

Thanks for stopping by ;)
