Happy Birthday Steph!

Hello there!

Today is my sister's birthday and I really hope she likes her birthday card.  She's a big fan of purple so hopefully she will :)

I made this card with the help of this months' St. Luke's Charity Challenge.  The challenge is to create a one layer card.  I don't think I've ever made a one layer card before?! I love foam tape so this was certainly a challenge!

I decided to try something I saw on Jennifer Rzasa's (amazing!) blog a little while ago.  I nested positive die cuts within negative ones and this is how it turned out....

And just to prove it's only a single layer....

Thank you to Jennifer for the inspiration, St Luke's for the challenge and a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister!

Thanks for dropping by  :)

Card:     White, Black, Lilac and Grape -
Stamps: Verve - Hope Blooms
Ink:        VersaColor - Violet
Other:    Spellbinders Nestabilities - Parisian Motifs, Blossom, Classic Circles, Scalloped Circles

  1. Sian, this is stunning! I love the colors your picked, and that design is fabulous! I'm sure your sister will love it :) I'm so glad you found that technique on my blog to help inspire you to create this beauty!

  2. Hello sian
Another fabulous card .... You sister will be really pleased with your card Sian..... Thanks for joining us at St. Luke's this week .........
    Hugs Sylvie

  3. Love your clever take on the OLC and gorgeous colours too?
Congrats on your well deserved win last month :0)

  4. This is an interesting twist on one layer - strictly speaking I guess it's still 2 layers as your "one layer" decoration is on top of your card. However, we're not the sort of blog that is strict about this kind of thing so you're card is perfect for our challenge - just thought I'd point it out as other one-layer blogs would be stricter.
How you've nested the images and the colours you've used is so clever and makes for a gorgeous card.
Thanks so much for braving our "much dreaded by most" one layer challenge over at St Luke's.

  5. I adore these colours - and really like the way they nest into each other forming a "single" layer! Great work. Thanks for playing along with St Luke's Charity Card Challenge!

  6. Great one layer card love the vibrant colour thank you for joining in our challenge over at St Luke's

  7. wow, it looks so dimensional from the front it's hard to believe that it was only one layer! Fab job hun, I'm sure your sister LOVED it!
